ABout Courage Worldwide

Because every child deserves a safe home

—and a future filled with hope.

In 2005, Courage Worldwide was founded to help people find their purpose. When we learned we live in a world where children are sold for sex, we vowed to do something: something to protect these vulnerable children and propel them into their future. We vowed to give them hope and a home.

Since 2010, we have operated trauma- and survivor-informed residential safe houses: 3 minor homes and 2 over-18 homes located in Northern California and both Moshi and Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.

Plans are underway to open Courage House Northern Nevada in late 2025.

OUR APPROACH

Every community has its own culture, values, and needs. That’s why each Courage House is designed in close collaboration with local leaders, service providers, and families. While the foundation of our model is the same—safe housing, trauma-informed therapy, education, and life-skills training—the delivery is adapted to best serve the local context.

Clapping Hands

Tanzania

In Tanzania, where community partners emphasized a strong desire for faith-based programming, Courage House offers spiritual mentorship alongside its therapeutic care.

Though spiritual support is never required of residents it is an part of the program offered to support young victims.

Nevada

In Nevada, where the needs are different, Courage House provides a fully inclusive program that welcomes all children in need of services.

Residents may explore spirituality on their own terms, with optional support such as transportation to services if requested.

What We Stand For

At the core of Courage Worldwide is the belief that every child deserves safety, dignity, and the chance to thrive.

Our work is guided by these principles:

  • Courage — to dream of a future beyond exploitation.

  • Compassion — to walk alongside survivors with dignity and respect.

  • Excellence — to deliver high-quality, trauma-informed care.

  • Collaboration — to unite community, government, and nonprofit partners in pursuit of lasting solutions.

  • Hope — to create pathways to healing, independence, and bright futures.

OUR IMPACT

From Northern California to Nevada to Tanzania, Courage Houses have served hundreds of child survivors of trafficking, helping them reduce trauma symptoms, re-engage in education, build self-confidence, and successfully transition into independent living. With every Courage House we open, we bring the same commitment: a safe home, individualized care, and the belief that healing is possible.

We believe every child deserves the opportunity to be and do all they were created for.
