Courage House NORCAL
Seeds of Hope, Planted in Northern California, Growing Worldwide
Where Courage Began
Northern California was home to the very first Courage House — the place where seeds of hope were planted for children who had been trafficked. Though that home has since closed, its legacy lives on. What began there sparked a global movement: Courage Houses now stand in East Africa (with Kenya soon to follow) and the model is expanding to other parts of the U.S., starting in Nevada — a nexus of child trafficking. The closing of our first home was not the end, but the beginning of something bigger: a worldwide fight for freedom, safety, and hope.

Courage House NorCal operated from 2010-2020, serving minors and
over-18 survivors throughout the decade.

41 minors were served from 2010-2017

State policy change and regulatory issues transitioned the minor home to an over-18 home in 2017 where 15 over-18 survivors were served. The home closed in 2020 due to residents transitioning out of the program and the COVID pandemic occurring. These previous residents continue to receive resources and services from Courage Worldwide as they progress in their healing journeys.

WANT TO HELP?
If you want to help young girls in need, one place to start is with our new Courage House Nevada.
The immediate investment needed to open our doors in early November 2025 to our first six girls is $2.5 million. This critical funding will cover:
-
Renovation and outfitting of the original home on 40-acres
-
Hiring and training a skilled, trauma-informed staff
-
Program development and licensing
-
Renovation and built-out of equine therapy facilities
-
Paying off the bridge loan for the initial property purchase.
We are thrilled to share we've already secured $1,650,000 in public and private support, including a generous grant from Washoe County. Even more exciting, a $750,000 bridge loan made possible by a supporter has allowed us to purchase our Nevada home—setting the stage for permitting, budgeting for opening operations, and beginning construction on three additional cottages.
