A Hope Filled Future

A Hope Filled Future: The Story of Brenda

One of our most consistent challenges of having a residential program for child victims of human trafficking and sexual exploitation is what to do when they reach their 18th birthday. Whether here in the US or at our home in Tanzania, Africa, turning 18 means transition and different expectations whether you are ready or not. Watching the children that we have poured into for years struggle with their future due to lack of resources and family support caused us to create an over 18 residential program and the Courage Leadership Academy. We wanted to equip, encourage and empower these children we had grown to love as they transition from a journey of healing to one of independence and freedom. The over 18 program we call Courage House Too continues to provide the same family environment they have flourished in, while adding intentional resources for them to pursue their dreams and careers. They continue their counseling and mentor programs while learning new skills that will aid in their transition to adulthood.  Most of our residents don’t have family support – financially or emotionally to make this transition.  We have found if we leave them alone to make this transition, then the streets they left provide the only opportunity they can see to survive.  Your prayers and your financial support give them another option. Below is a video from “Brenda” who is now successfully transitioning to independence, healthy relationships and a hope filled future. She came to Courage when she was 15-years-old. Brenda is now an entrepreneur and sells beautiful earrings (keep an eye out for these on our Courage Products page on Instagram, @courageproducts). From her and from us, thank you.

The incredible transformations of the girls at Courage House wouldn't be possible without the support of our donors. When you give to Courage, you are changing the lives of victims of trafficking: giving them hope and a future.
